Hi Damien

Thanks for the info. I have built quite a few engines and I agree with the idea of doing it right first time. My main concern right now though is getting the car running again so I'm not sure some of the things will be necessary.

The OEM turbo suggestion and ARP stuff is spot on. The thing is though that to get it up to a usable power level, I'm not sure it's necessary. Yeah sure it would take me above 250hk, but do I need that in a very heavy, wrong wheel drive car? That's only going to work after spending a complete fortune on a very good suspension setup and even then, I'm never going to get the power down.

The ECU is not likely to need changing, it's probably mappable, but I would need to check. So if it's just a case of some injectors and a remap to bring me up to the 2.0T hp level, than it's worth it.

In all honesty, I want to sell it eventually to get another BMW.

For now though, the engine build should be interesting. I'm very well versed on checking and having heads skimmed if they are warped etc and a metal head gasket will be a good addition anyway.

Thanks for the input :o)

/Emma

Excellent, thank you.

Yes I understand what you mean. I need to use the 900NG 2.0T head gasket on the B204L block to basically lower the compression to a similar level as before using the old block and a steel gasket.

What sort of levels are these engines tunable to (reliably)?

From what I read, although people say this is a lpt (2.0t - 150hp) and different from the 2.0T (200hp?), some Saab specialists I have talked to say that the only difference between the two cars was a remap from Saab? The turbo and engine were identical?

Is there any truth in this?

By the way, your English is better then most English people manage. I really appreciate your help.

If the B204E bottom end is used with the multi layer steel head gasket from B205E the pistons will hit the cylinder head at top dead center, so it's more than just reducing the compression ratio.

The 2.0t engine with 150 hp is designated B205E. The 2.0T engine with 205 hp is designated B205R and was only availible in old generation 9-3. 9-5 used B235E with 170/185 hp, B235L with 220 hp and B235R with 230/250/260 hp instead. There are many hardware differences between B205R and older B205E engines such as pistons, conrods, turbocharger, exhaust valves, fuel injectors and turbo inlet pipe.

Saab did however have two tuning kits for the B205E. One for engines up to M00 which have red fuel injectors (190 hp) and one for M01 and later which have green fuel injectors (185 hp). The latter consist of only software, the previous use both software and different fuel injectors. The red injectors are of the air blended type which are used with a different inlet manifold compared to later engines.
