Ideas for diesel mega mile muncher

Im thinking about getting another car, becuase to be honest, im missing them. Ive currently got two bikes, so looking at getting rid of one for a motor.

Now, i want Volvo, every car i buy thats not volvo, I end up regretting it. But, i need to achieve around 60mpg! My petrol bike is managing 65mpg @ £4.86 a gallon.

Now i know, im not gonna get it quite this high, but not far off would be great.

Im thinking, now bear with me, this is thinking, volvo 340, with a D5 engine fitted. With the low low weight of the 340/360 rolling chassis, its got to be capable of 60mpg! (13.2 miles per litre (approx 21km per litre) depending on how you work it out!)

Is this conversion possible?! Im pretty sure you can fit the T5 engine in these, but you would obviously need some conversion plates to hook up say, a T5/D5 box to the rear wheel drive 340/60 drivetrain.

Or would i be better off buying a V70/S40/S60/S80/V50/850 etc etc. What are your thoughts!

Ps - i do between 750 miles and 1000 miles a week!!! (1200-1600km)

Why don't you buy a VW Passat TDI of likewise with the 90/110hk engine will do 60mpg if you drive nicely!

Alot easier than to change engine and so on... Or buy a Seat Toledo TDI that I've got which does 65mpg on the freeway!
