Respect, must have been a nice event.. BUT the last sentence is not very right! The fastes "streetlegal" car on track at the moment is the donkervoort D8 RS06 i think.
7:14.89 is the target time. This lap was done under not the best weather conditions. So it seems that there is a little space left.... ;-P

But as a matter of fact this is all nonsense for me!
The really fastes streetcar on track has - in my eyes- to be a stock car with at least 1.500 build exemplars. And not such small series with a handfull build cars.
So its finally the Carrera GT which has done a 7:28..., who is state of the art for me!

I agree that for a record such as this it makes little sense only having a small run of cars to call them production and then claim the title with what is essentially a bespoke car designed for exactly that purpose.
The Viper however is exciting, love it! In those colours it looks very exciting!
Good for Dodge!!

thats nuts! and I dont want you guys to think I'm biased by saying this just because im in the usa, but the viper is a production car or more of a production car compared to whatever car it is that wannaspeed posted, which seems more like a kit-car. The viper does get a 500 unit run per year and was designed with a purpose in hand. What I don't like is the fact that it only takes 50 units to be considered production, like the first run of the bugatti veyron was. THis acr version seems to be track-purpose only, why do you say? Well, the stock viper is somewhat a pig tipping scales at what 3200 lbs? Its more of a outright-ridiculous-overwheliming-overpowered-beast-from-hell than anything. I saw a test on it and seems that they didn't invest much into suspension technology besides the 345mm wide rear tires which help you do most of the turning via throttle pedal. This seems to have the right suspension setup and aerodynamics to put a hurt into the fruo-fruo-pink-tshirt-metrosexual whod youd usually see driving a viper and set apart the viper owner world into two different classes. This car seems all business and no compromise. I wonder what this thing weights and what type of weight-reduction techniques they've incorporated into it. Along with what type of suspension setup is used; maybe external fluid damper setup of some sort. With 600+hp on tap though, ud figure it would post way better times than a 480hp 3800lbs nissan; though the gtr has a awd system which is engineering perfection especially that transmission.
PS: my bad for any grammatic/typing errors, sometimes I just don't give a flying monkeys ass.

I don't know about some of that really..
I think that SRT putting a proper suspension setup on that's adjustable and a proper front & rear wing for that matter has shown real improvement. Gone are the days of 6.7 litre V8's, putting out a measly 350hp with suspension you would find on a bouncy castle because your roads are wide enough to just go sideways round.. and if not the max limit is 50 anyways.. lol (I'm being stereotypical)
Just for the record, I love American cars and that one is lush!
For the GTR though, that might come back and surprise them yet! I can just see those crazy nutters bringing out a model with 600hp or something similar on production. If they do, I'm sure they'll just take it in their stride .. lol
lol, what the hell is this: fruo-fruo-pink-tshirt-metrosexual
PS .. Good on ya!

I agree on this one. Same as Z1 Vette, which has little to do with any "production" car, same as "new" Viper.
Well to say something about latest american cars since I live in US now. I drove my friend 06 Viper and it wasn't very impressive. From the other side car sounds sick with open pipes.
For now I will stay with 4WD and Turbo as all around good setup that can be used in any conditions.
I wish HKS could take their HKS Hipermax EVO on Nurburgring and claim that, it's still production car we just switched body to carbon fiber and installed few bolt-on parts... :D

Well that red Viper is Full carbon body same as Z1. That was the only way they could make them any faster, and make them handle better since they are heavy as they were from factory. That red Viper has so much to do with a production car like Space Shuttle with commercial Airplane...
Both Z1 and Viper were purpose built. And they are very limited production.
