Bomb Proof Speed Camera

Okay then i have never seen these due to them being in Holland, but they are planing on expanding them throughout Europe pretty soon..

A bomb Proof, Ram Proof, fire Proof, virtually Indestructible speed camera...

Now im not a destructive person, but the odd speed camera set on fire or cut in half with a chainsaw used to make me smile. Sort of retribution!

This thing however will sense its being attacked, download its data to the police station and alert them to the damage!

One thing is for sure, i bet they react to that, faster then they do to most domestic calls!

What a complicated device, i doubt about it's efficiency... Still i heard some news about the latest speed measureing device: it's a normal video camera linked to a board computer which calculates the speed of the coming vehicle(TAKE IN MIND THAT THIS ISN'T A RADAR OR TELEMETRIC-LASER DEVICE THAT CAN BE DETECTED BY AN ORDINARY RADAR DETECTOR!!!).

How about something reflective?

I like the way that they can now basically hide them wherever they like now. Takes the piss really. I don't mind speed limits being enforced in high risk areas, around schools etc... but it gets to a point where it's a bit fucking ridiculous and I think we've already hit that marker and gone beyond.

I agree, someone speeding past a junior school at home time or through built up areas should be locked up and the key thrown away! But these things are usually placed where they are going to make more money than anything.

Its a revenue device, not safety device - despite what they reckon. There is overwhelming evidence that speed is not a factor in many accidents in the UK (about 85%) and thats probably the same in most of Europe.

Besides i have found a way to disable it .. Its called a bit of card painted black and parcel tape!! Right over the lenses.... Who needs a Bomb! I wonder how long it would take to figure out they were not making any money from it.

... just call it a public service! ;)

It's a supid action to mount this devices. The cost of buying and installing is almost 100.000 euro, so after 1000 or something like this the "investition" is liquidate! If they want the reduce the speed near schools they should mount speed bumps.

no .. usually its easy enough to just chop them in half or set fire to them..

I do remember one campaign where people were sewing (stitching) together white bedsheets and making them look like silly ghosts and then placing them over the top of the camera's ... VERY funny!

Here in Belgium, i once did see a Jeep with a cable at the back attached to a camera :)
A few km's from there, the police was coming a very high speed !!

A few days later, it was in the newspaper. They got him :(
But it was very funny to see...
