Valentines Rally / Autotest

I went out tonight to see a rally / autotest stage set up by our local motorsports club. It was an amateur/semi event and the cars had to each perform on a set course on a stadium ground, before doing a 100 mile route round the island, fully navigating themselves. The event racing started at 12:30am

The out door events were hard to take pics of, but here are some of the cars inside the airfield hanger before the racing.. most of them sat plotting their routes :)

pics are not the best, its only my cell phone camera :)

Seems that the 205 peugeot is quiet popular, isn`t it? Btw nice pics! Was everyone allowed to join it, or do you need a special motorsport licence?

Yeah the Astra GT/E and the 205's and even saxos were very very popular. I think thats just due to the low cost of setting them up for an event like this. On the other hand though, there were quite a few MkII Escorts for rear wheel drive goodness (my favourite), a Skoda, and an Impreza.

This event was closed to the club members only (so naturally i have enquired about joining), and as far as the licence goes i dont know. I think they need a clubman licence, which is a matter of simply buying one and a medical examination.

I dont think they would be too keen on my bmw racing, but i would have a go at building a smaller car deffinatly
