How´s car-treatment in your area?

Yup i know, Fuzzy title.
What i was founding it on, was my recent stay in Barcelona. Now, being a member on a forum as zatzy, many members, if not all, consider a dent or similar a not to popular thing. Mostly because it makes dents in wallet.

Anyhoo, without delaying things to much:

How are people treating their cars/other peoples cars in your area? I noticed these very nice luxury cars on the streets in the centre of barcelona, but when i got closer, there it was. A dent on the door, front bumper, bonnet, any where you can possibly imagine a damage. At first i wondered how theses drivers got their licenses and such, but later on that night i saw something, as i was standing on my balcony.

Someone was moving out of an apartment. They gently leaned a mattress on the hood of their car. On that, a shelf which then got the bedframe leaned onto itself. Yeah, you get the picture...

But. It wasn´t their car, and they weren´t moving. It was a kind of grab it if you want it flea market.
I got angry at them, for doing this, when i noticed a guy frantically pulling on the mattress (remember where they put it?) which gave way with a light *thud* to follow. shelf and bedframe straight onto the car.

No one cared. Is this a normal thing? I don´t think so, anyway =)

(Sorry for the book-size of this.)

I think in mainland europe this is normal, Italy, greece and spain they really dont seem to care about there cars much - and italy has the worst driving and road care attention ive ever seen (strange considering they build some of the most beautiful cars in the world!>?)

when i was in stockholm i noticed that the cars - although dirty from winter weather were all good condition, same story in Norway!

In south america the cars were a REAL MESS! worst ive ever seen, but in Venezuala they dont have a lot of money, so it is to be expected!

England there is a bit of both, some poeple who really dont care for their car, or other peoples, then others who pride it above everything else they own!

I agree with Anton, but then i also think it would depend where you would get to park your car. Inner City would be terrible as the amount of people who would treat someones else car badly is increased.. Especially as more people would be used to using public transport and not having a car at all. (ie: would then not respect other peoples)

Lesser in the countryside, or small villages where everyone has their own land to park on
