How to polish Alloy?

Can anyone tell me how to get a shiney finish in alluminium?

I have seen in a couple of zatzy projekt threads people who are managing to take pitted and damaged alloy and polish it to a mirror finish. I need to do my turbo housing, and it will help when polishing the combustion chambers on my head.

Any advice appreciated

Here's a very good guide. It's in swedish, but the pictures might give you an idea on how it's done.

Or maybe someone could translate it for you, unfortunately I don't have time to do it right now.

haha, thanks fella

I think i can suss it from that, looks like a case of sanding back to decent metal, getting it flat, and then just buffing it up properly. I am not going for all shiney, but the turbo needs to stand out :)
