Which large English-speaking forums are out there

Browsing the web to get some ideas at active internatinal english speaking automotive forums that are out there.
Preferably not tied to a specific brand or model car.

Most that I can find are either dead or a really harch environment and it seams like it is one huge flaming competition going on.

Yeah, englands forums are overrun - there are just too many of them. and as a result, there is major competition, i'll think you will personally remember one between a few ex-members of Lt ;)

Yeah like ant says really, its very easy to set up a bad forum, and everyone does it. From each forum you will get a percentage who go off and start their own, and so on, and so on.

There are a few like PassionFord.com which are big, but like you say its tied to a specific brand.

some big ones out there though, i'm on scoobynet, impreza forum.
