Anthon Volvo C70 GT T - The Swedish Couch

Well yet again ive ended up with another car. But ive bought this one with the intention of keeping it, as I actually bought a car I wanted this time, rather than one i just happened to get cheap.

So

Its a late 2002 model Volvo C70 T GT edition.

Its the 2 litre LPT turbo 20v enging which standard knocks out 163bhp, through its manual gearbox, which in England, is pretty rare to find a manual C70.

Even rarer, is the colour. Ive never seen one in this colour, and cant find the name of it. Ive even searched zatzy and garaget for inspiration, and only found 2 in this colour, one coupe, one cabriolet.

My plans, well first of all it needs a good detail. Few swirls and light scractches which will easily be removed with mechanical correction.

In the stereo, I shall not be putting my tv headunit in, as the stereo as standard has the disc changer, and surround sound dolby speakers.

Modding plans are very thin on the ground for now, I dont really want to do anything to it, but Ive got a feeling with an impending ring trip early next year i may end up with it on coiloevers and a brake upgrade.

Also got a feeling it may end up being chipped with an enclosed induction kit. Should be able to up the boost and get it up around the 200bhp mark with just a few mods.

Looks like a well kept car! Seems like fairly easy business getting it up and beyond the 200hp mark..

Well ive picked the car up now and put 450 miles on the clocks already,

My initial thoughts are that it is too slow. But the comfort it has and spec is fantastic. The paintwork is being fully detailed next week, so I'll hold off photos till then.

Yeah I can imagine that it feels slow, its not a small car! How does the spec-sheet look like? Fully loaded? Sunroof and all?

I am driving a 140hp volvo 850 at the moment so I hear ya when it comes down to getting up to speed..

climate control
electric heated mirrors
electric windows
tape and CD changer headunit with dolby pro-logic surround sound (11 speakers)
2.0 LPT engine 163bhp
cruise control
traction control
trip computer - average speed, average mpg, cycling mpg, miles to empty tank, 2nd mileage trip
headlight washers and wipers
rear centre armrest
rear cigarette 12v point (aswell as the front)
SIPS system all round
17" alloys

and so on. So yeah, the spec is quite high and everything works.

This ones a bit special though as its an October 2002 model and they stopped making them november 2002.

Its also only had 2 owners and has just 43k (70,000 km)miles on the clocks, full volvo service history and all its MOTS

First mod today - nothing particularly special, OSRAM night breaker headlight bulbs - much clearer whiter light. Definate upgrade on any car.

nice daily driver mobile, that color is not at all rare to see around here. My friend works at volvo and tells me that they are a pain to work on. But, ever since the begging of the "recession" he's been getting overtime hours like mad because more and more people bring their volvos in for service.

Yeah we didnt get the GT-package but we had others, I dont really know what combo relates to the one you have.

So its like one of the last cars to leave the assembly line, cool! Not much mileage but since you have much milder climate i recon you guys drive the same car all year round. Here in sweden if you have a nicer car you usually buy a crappy car just for the winter because of all the roadsalt and snow.

Been having some thoughts about my 'couch'

the paintwork isnt the best, and I want it resprayed, but i was thinking about vinyl wraps.

Now.

Imagine - as it, but with satin black full wrap. light smoke tinted windows, satin black wheels, and huuge gloss black DC Shoe Co, logos up the side. oh, and my snowboards on the roof.

Been thinking about wheels for my ride, want a euro look, as im not a massive fan of huuuuuuge chrome wheels anymore, and wanted BBS rims, but theyre too expensive, so im lookng at Lenso BSX 7.5x16 with slight stretch 195/40 16 tyres

obviously, this is an inch smaller than standard! but with a 40mm drop on the suspension, it should ride nice and low, but will definatly need some 25mm spacers on front and 35mm on the rear to make it look wider
