Daniel - Carisma GDi -01. " The crappy one"
Well, thought it was about time I started a thread here in our great international section aswell.
In the spirit of Mr W's old Mondeo I give to you, the muscular Mitsu Carisma GDi. ;)
It was, is and will be my every day car with all the limitations that comes with that.
Still with me? Great.
Ever since I had to sell my old Alfa Romeo 75 V6 I had been longing for another Alfa. But since I need a car I can rely on the Alfas had to go into the bin.
I directed my attention towards Japan, or actually in this case the Netherlands where Carismas were being built. My mission was clear. I wanted a car with comfort, a bit speed, a tad of luxury and looks that wasn't god awful.
This was what I wound up with.

So, what plans do I have for this car then?
Well, during these 6 months I've had the car I've come to realize that new rims and som new springs could be a good start.
Therefore I tried some new shoes yesterday. Great to have friends with cars using the same boltpattern. :)
This is the car I borrowed the wheels from.

And this is how it looked on my Carisma. I know, I know. My car is on stilts. ;)

Nice aftermarket wheels...

Dull, boring, stock wheels...

A great photographer and friend helped me with the whole 'slamming the car into the gorund'-thingy using Photoshop.

And like the great guy he is Claes aka cnfoto.se helped me with changing color on the wheels, just so I could get an idea of how it would look with black wheels.
Kinda good looking huh?

He also made a version with another type of wheel.

Now it´s just a matter of choosing on which way to go. Few spokes or many spokes, black or white. Easy to clean (few spokes and black) och h**l to clean (lots of spokes and wheels in white or something like that).
Would be great to hear some input from you international guys. :D

The Carisma is the result of a joint venture between Volvo with the S/V40 and Mítsubishi. It's kinda like Firebird and Camaro, the platform is the same and some engines were shared but bodystyle and interior differs. The Carisma came in a 4 door sedan setup and the 5 door hatchback that I have. The cars were being built in a co-owned Dutch factory. I don't think the Carisma was ever sold in the us, or japan. Come to think about it I don't think the Carisma were sold anywhere else but europe.
The car is fwd and packs a massive 4G93 under the hood. ;) (What? Me being ironic? Nooo way, 125 horses are really massive...promise...NOT. :'( )
The lack of power is one of the greatest disadvantages of the car. :(
I'll post another ps-modded pic made by a frined of mine. Shows a bit of what I'm looking for as a end result.

A small update. In february I put all plans on modifying the car on the shelf. I didn´t wanna keep it. As time went the urge for a motorcycle grew on me and my girlfriend. Bike = no new car = the old car can get some lovin´ again.
Sooooo...
A couple of weeks ago i de-badged the car and took this years first run wit the Sea Ray.

Last weekend I put my new set of wheels on. Looks kinda good although I could need a lowering kit to make it look real nice.

While I was out testdriving a Yamaha Fz6-N the owner of the garage and the bike worked his ass off, and on a sunday. Lucky for me he´s a great friend. :)

1000 miles during the last week takes it´s toll on the finish.

I was so happy I had to take one of the bikes for a spin on the fun gravelroads where my parents in law lives.

Just need to find a sucker that will do a nice recond of the car now. ;)

Wow cool, a Mr S projekt! :-)
The car looks great, I wish mine was the same colour :( I too like the white style wheels, but done black..
although personally I would have a really deep gloss black to contrast the red.
The wheels you chose would love a Black coat of paint :-)
P.S - Loving the boat video
I seriously love it like this:

I don't think if you had the same picture off gravel it would not have looked so great! Hows your paintwork after doing that? Looks great!

My paintwork is doing great, don´t have any left. ;)
Actually the surface was mostly sand so it looks more paint-ruining than it actually was.
And I agree, you need gravel to get that rally-ish effect, tarmac wouldn´t have done the trick.
