I have seen and heard of many high horsepower Volvos in Sweden and after talking with several of my Swedish friends I decided to build a Hot Rod Volvo here in the US. About a month ago I bought a US 1989 Volvo 740 turbo with manual transmission off of Ebay. The car looked good and was about the price I wanted to pay. I had the car shipped to me in Arizona from New York. I was a little nervous about rust but the pictures and the decription made the car sound like it was in real good shape. When the car arrived 2 1/2 weeks later, it was not quite as nice as they had said. So I decided "To hell with it, let's make it a racecar!" So Monday the 6th of October, we stripped out the interior of the car. We found several rusty holes in the floor. We also took the time to mock up the roll cage. On Wednesday I took to the floor with a heat gun and a scraper to get up all of the rubber sound crap off so we can cut out the rust and weld in some new sheet metal. Thursday I finished cleaning up the floor panels and on Tuesday the cutting will begin. I will try to get some pictures posted soon!

I´m getting rid of my volvo 850 soon and i´m thinking about buying a volvo 142 turbo ;) I sold my peace of crap civic so now i finally have some space in our garage!

Update: The floor is repaired. I have started clearing out the engine bay. The engine will be coming out soon! Tomorrow the cage starts to go in. I, hopefully, will have pictures on tonight.

I'm hoping for around 400hp or so. We are going to do build the engine to handle pretty much whatever we can throw at it, so after that it all will come down to what we bolt on to the outside of the motor.

One of the guys here has a buddy that is looking to see what he has for turbos lying around, if you know what I mean.
This is the repair work we have done to the driver and passanger floors. (It is really not rusty in the other places of the floor, the camera is just a piece of SKIT.)
