Mr W - Yamaha XJ 600 S
Unfortunatly due to a company car, i now only have my motorbike to play with!
Yamaha XJ-Diversion 600 S 1997
Well this is my first bike, and so my first bike project, it has to stay comfortable, yet be quick, stop and handle well, so strangley I bought this.
My initial thoughts were - Streetfighter style, stumpy seat unit, bellpan, tiny round headlight and minimal fairing.
The acutal plans are now as follows
X - part fitted
0 - part ordered, or ready to fit
/ - part not yet ordered or built
Bodywork
[X] Keep standard paint
[0] Bellypan
[/] New Black graphics
[/] Rear hugger
[0] stumpy indicators, clear lenses
[/] Tiny rear numberplate
[/] Custom removeable headlight cover
[X] Paint levers, givi rack (luggage) and stands satin black
[0] paint rear sets, fork legs, swingarm, engine casing satin black
[0] repaint wheels satin black with blue detailing
[0] Repaint givi top-box in body colour
[0] Bar end satin black mirrors
[/] Renthal Handlebar and pad
Handling
[X] Fork overhaul with harsher oil
[X] Regrease headbearings, check play
[/] New adjustable rear shock
[/] Jack up back end with 35mm jacks
[0] Drop forks 20mm through yokes
[X] Metzeler lazertech tyres
Engine
[X] Oil change and carb balance
[X] Set chain tension and wheel balance
[/] Collect parts for one off turbo kit
[/] K&N Carb filter socks and re-jet
[/] XJ 900 Diversion Carbs
[/] One off underbody exhaust
So thats it, basic ideas, make a sleeper of a bike that looks standard, but OE evil :D
Keep your eyes peeled for progress.
